Laurence’s sporting interest began with soccer where he played for Shamrock Rovers underage squad and Dublin Institute of Technology whilst attending college there.
From there, his appetite for fitness drew him into the gym scene before moving to Cork City to become a firefighter. Following a fire that Laurence attended while on duty, he discovered a weightlifting club nearby and began training with some of Cork’s most prolific lifters, gaining knowledge and experience which will be a valuable asset to our community going forward.
“I really felt that my training was lacking and I didn’t find it enjoyable anymore. After joining the Weightlifting Club, my training shifted towards more strength and conditioning and it was from that type of training that I discovered CrossFit.”
Laurence used his downtime from work to educate himself further by accomplishing courses in Personal Training, Nutrition, Crossfit Level 1 and also Crossfit Gymnastics
Having recently returned home and joining Dublin Fire Brigade, Laurence has become an active member of the Perpetua Team. Say Hi to him, if you see him around the gym!
“I want to use the knowledge I’ve gained to not only help others become better athletes but also improve their quality of life outside of the gym too. CrossFit Perpetua was the obvious choice for me; the standard of coaching is unmatched in this city, the community is remarkably welcoming and the programming allows for the improved longevity and vitality of the members. All of this means that I’ll be rescuing cats from trees for many more years to come.”
